My mom has been visiting my sister in Colorado this past week. When I was talking to her on the phone today, she said that she had been thinking about getting a tattoo for a while, and just decided to get one today. My 51-year-old mom supposedly got a yellow-orange sunshine with my dad's initials (GWB) tattooed above it. I guess she doesn't want to be the only old lady in her nursing home who doesn't have one (when she eventually ends up in one). I think she is also thinking about getting a small, diamond stud nose ring. I think she is having a mid-life crisis. She told me that she called my dad and told him that she got one today... and he said that was hot.
Anyway, about my day... I started off the day by going to a Fort Hood-wide garage sale/bazaar. It started at 8am... I was there by 8:15am. Some people were still setting up their areas in the Community Center parking lot where it was going on when I got there. I found about 6 or 7 books for Heidi and a brand new, never-been-opened easel for children. It has a chalk board on one side and the other side is for dry erasing. I guess you could also hang things and paint or draw on it. I thought it was a pretty neat find. It was So Cold this morning while we were there, but I had fun shopping.
Tonight, when I put Heidi to bed, I fed her some milk and then she just wanted to rock for a little while before I put her in her crib. While I rocked her, she had her head resting on my chest with her arms around me and she kept saying "Rock rock baby... Rock rock baby." I wasn't sure if she was just saying it because I was rocking her or if she was singing Rock-a-bye baby to me. It was very cute. She is such a sweet baby.
I think she has started to say "I love you" too. The other day, I told her that I loved her, and it sounded like she said, in her own, slurred, baby-talk way, "love you" back to me... but it was not very clear. She has done this a few times now.
She is also pretty good at saying please and thank-you now. Today, she wanted me to get her another puzzle down from on top of her dresser, and she said "puzzle please," while she pointed up to what she was wanting. Her "please" sounds more like "peese." She is using please more frequently now when she is telling me about something she wants. For instance, she says "cookies please" or "Barbie show please" pretty often. Today, she wanted to watch the Elmo/Sesame Street deployment video. She had gotten it out from under the tv and brought it to me, saying "Emo.. Emo." If she forgets to say please, sometimes I remind her to say please when she wants something. Oh, and "thank-you" sounds more like "tan-too" when she says it.
Oh, by the way, I think my mom and my sister are kidding about the tattoo that my mom supposedly got today. I don't think they are telling me the truth. I think they just wanted to see what I would say. I don't see my mom ever getting a tattoo or a nose ring... or anything that wild anytime in the near future.
